How is depth of field calculated?
DoP Toolkit calculates hyperfocal distance and near/far focus limits from your focal length, aperture, focus distance, and sensor size, using the selected camera's circle of confusion. Pick a preset sensor or enter your own for the most accurate results.
My camera isn't in the sensor list - what do I do?
Use the custom sensor option to enter your camera's exact sensor width and height. Once saved, it behaves just like a built-in preset and can be reused across every calculator in the app.
Does the Sun & Golden Hour calculator work anywhere in the world?
Yes. Enter any location and date, or use your current location, and DoP Toolkit will calculate accurate sunrise, sunset, golden hour, and blue hour times for that spot.
Does the Timecode Calculator support drop-frame?
Yes. You can add, subtract, and convert timecode across common frame rates, including drop-frame formats, with frame-accurate results.
How accurate is the Storage Calculator?
Storage estimates are based on standard bitrates for each codec at the frame rate and duration you enter. Actual file sizes can vary slightly depending on scene complexity and camera settings, so we recommend leaving some headroom on your cards.
Does DoP Toolkit work offline?
Yes. Every calculator works fully offline once the app is installed - useful for locations with no signal.
