Privacy Policy

Overview

iGroup is developed by Toby Jones in England, UK. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use iGroup on your Mac. In short: there are no accounts, iGroup sends nothing to us, and we don't collect any of your information.

What we don't collect

iGroup doesn't ask you to sign up or log in. It contains no analytics, advertising or tracking code, and it doesn't send anything to us or to anyone else.

Accessibility access

iGroup asks for Accessibility access so it can see your windows' titles, positions and sizes, and move, raise, minimise and close them when you group or switch tabs. This happens on your Mac. Window titles and contents are never recorded or sent anywhere.

Screen recording

If you turn on Show a preview of background tabs on hover, macOS may ask to let iGroup record your screen. iGroup uses it only to draw the small preview while you hover over a tab. Previews are kept in memory and never saved or sent.

What's stored on your Mac

Your settings, rules, saved groups and the groups to restore at next launch are stored in iGroup's preferences on your Mac. They are removed if you delete iGroup and its preferences.

Changes to other settings

Three options change macOS settings. Turn off Stage Manager while iGroup is running is on by default, because tab groups work best without Stage Manager; if Stage Manager was on, iGroup turns it back on when you switch the option off or quit. The other two apply only when you turn them on. Keep tab groups together in Stage Manager changes how Stage Manager shows an app's windows. Use iGroup tabs instead of native tabs turns off Prefer tabs and Finder's Open folders in tabs. iGroup remembers your previous values and puts them back when you turn the option off.

Purchases and tips

In the Mac App Store version, Buy Me a Coffee offers optional tips as in-app purchases. Apple handles them under its own privacy policy, and they don't unlock anything. If you get iGroup on Gumroad, Gumroad handles the purchase and receives the details you give at checkout, under Gumroad's privacy policy, and Buy Me a Coffee opens buymeacoffee.com in your browser. We receive only what these services share with sellers about a sale.

Children

iGroup is not directed at children and collects no information from anyone.
